PROJECT ENGINEER - SWINERTON BUILDERS

Recruited to manage multiple capital projects in patient occupied healthcare facilities across the Bay Area. Established infection control methods. Conducted project estimating and budget allocation. Produced contractor work schedules.

John muir health phase 3 exterior repair project

Walnut Creek, California

Lead Project Engineer on $8 million, 15,000 sq. ft. cladding, roofing, and interior remodeling project aimed at remediating severe water infiltration across multiple departments of the JMH Phase 3 medical tower.

  • Produced Sketch Up Pro 3D models and drawings of ribbon window systems under 2 weeks. Examined sill, head, jamb, and weatherproofing tolerances to ensure air and water tightness, affording Construction Team managers opportunities to address design errors and establish installation standards and procedures.

  • Designed infection control and fire watch methods and procedures, producing official Interim Life Safety and Infection Control plans, aiding in the protection of over 500+ staff and patients across 10 departments.

San Ramon, California

MEP Engineer on cost estimating team tasked with providing full bidding, leveling, and subcontractor proposals on a 1,885 sq. ft. compounding pharmacy addition to the Architect and Construction Management Teams. This was a preferential, non-competitive bidding offer to Swinerton.

  • Reviewed proposal design documents and led site investigation efforts, identifying multiple coordination items and submitting recommendations for redesign to engineering teams.

  • Drafted site work plan, identifying material staging, crane rigging, loading and off-loading areas, ensuring uninterrupted road way access to staff and patients while minimizing noise disruption.

  • Turned over full proposal including bid and leveling sheets 20 days ahead of scheduled deadline.

Kaiser Permanente vallejo medical center legacy project

Vallejo, California

Overseeing project engineer on $20 million large-scale outpatient Medical Office Building refresh project. Work concentrated on providing new framing, drywall, flooring, casework, and architectural finishes to over 15 clinical departments while maintaining patient and staff accessibility during regular working hours.

  • Minimized facilities disruptions to 0 during operational hours. Coordinated all work activities to take place on end-of-business Friday-Sunday, allowing Kaiser Permanente (KP) staff to render uninterrupted care to patients and granting KP managers flexibility to organize work activities into smaller, more agile phase sequences.

  • Performed material take-offs and cost estimating, reducing project overhead and material waste by 8%.

Ft. Bliss, Texas

Mechanical project engineer tasked with overseeing the coordination and installation of mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, electrical, and building management systems on $1.4 billion Army hospital. Led team of 10 MEP contractors. Supervised field construction activities. Executed quality control procedures and release of payment.

  • Reduced mechanical vs. architectural vs. structural clashes by 92%, from 1200 to 100 within a span of 15 months (March 2015 to June 2016) by establishing a detailed floor-by-floor building systems examination process, allowing engineering team managers to rectify critical issues, saving $1.2 million in potential tear-out and re-work costs.  A total of 20 floors were reviewed and over 10 mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and architectural contractors were coordinated.

  • Organized the construction of 8 separate specialty (x-ray, MRI, Esophageal Motility and Gastroenterology) rooms with 0 quality assurance work deficiency reports within a span of 5 months (October 2016-March 2017), by producing and distributing work instruction packages which included subcontractor sequence scheduling/target delivery dates, itemized task activities, and room specific medical equipment coordination direction.
